Janee brings with her 20 + years’ experience working in the field of human services primarily focused on children and families struggling with mental health concerns. She enjoys the challenge of working with caregiver and/or parent systems to help them understand how to parent them in a way that benefits everyone. Janee attended North Dakota State University and received a Bachelor of Science in Child Development and Family Studies in 1997. In 2003, she received her Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Minnesota and obtained her Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in 2006. For the past 6 years she has worked for Sherburne County Health and Human Services as a Lead Children’s Mental Health Social Worker. Outside of her professional life, Janee’s schedule is almost full with managing a family of six. Janee and Bob got permanent custody of Bob’s four grandchildren seven years ago. As much as there are challenges, Janee enjoys seeing the kids grow with opportunities and their happiness that the siblings are together. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the movies, reading, walks in the neighborhood and connecting with friends over dinner. When she can help Bob outside, she states that yard work and gardening it is therapeutic for her.
Within the last 7 years, two of her six brothers passed away unexpectedly. Between the two of them, they have 13 children that have been impacted by their loss. She states, “I believe this is an opportunity for me to assist others that may not have the family/friend support I have on my journey and help make an impact in the community.” Her brothers made a positive mark on their local communities and Janee will continue this in their footsteps.
Janee became part of the What Would Bri Do, Inc. Board of Directors in 2018. She states that she believed in the vision to build a lodge for those on their journey with grief in Central MN. We are happy that she brings her personal and professional experience to our team.
